GARAGE GYM FIT OUT IN BERKHAMPSTEAD

Over the last year we have received a large number of enquiries from people looking to convert their garage or spare room into a fully functioning home gym space. The shift to home working due to the COVID-19 pandemic has meant more people are seeing the benefits of having quick and easy access to a home fitness space.

It was for this reason that prompted our client to contact us about their garage gym fit out.

Garage Gym Fit Out In Berkhampstead – The Brief

The space our client wanted to transform into a fully functioning home gym was an underused garage that was being used as a storage space for excess household items. The brief our client gave us was to create a bright home gym space with a range of home gym equipment for the whole family. And, to build some storage cupboards along one wall to keep everything neat and tidy. Whilst the garage had undergone some previous cosmetic work there was quite a bit of preparation and remedial work needed to prepare the space for a full range of home gym equipment.

Gym Design, Concept and Layout.

After understanding the requirements of our client we got to work providing a concept and layout for the space with all the garage gym equipment in place. A good garage gym layout will provide an efficient use of space, give easy access to all pieces of equipment and most of all be safe to use. The layout is also important in plotting where any fixings, such as floor power sockets, should be located.

Preparation Works

The first stage in preparing the room was to take up the existing floor as we were fitting Pavigym Endurance S&S gym tiles. The concrete slab under the flooring was damp due to rain water that had previously entered the garage from the driveway. So we had to be dry it out first, using heaters and dehumidifiers. The issue of rain water entering the garage had been rectified so we were happy no further water could enter.

Once the floor had dried out we could commence fitting the electrics, floor power sockets, TV cabling, and electric heaters. The walls were then repaired, plastered and finally given two coats of paint to give the space a fresh, clean feel. Next the mirrors and the sliding mirrored cupboard doors were fitted after which we screeded the floor to create a nice level surface for the the Pavigym Endurance S&S floor tiles to be laid on. The gym was now ready to receive the gym equipment we had ordered.

The list of gym equipment we installed was as follows:

  • Technogym MyRun Treadmill
  • Peloton Bike
  • Exigo Half Rack & Attachments
  • Dual Adjustable Pulley
  • Performance Adjustable Bench
  • Jordan Classic Rubber Dumbbells 2kg – 20kg and vertical rack
  • Rubber Olympic Weight Plates
  • Olympic Barbell
  • Pavigym Endurance 22mm Flooring
  • RDX Heavy Duty Punchbag and Wall Mounted Bracket
  • 55 inch TV
