We were contacted to plan and fit a home gym set up in London. The space we were asked to fit-out with new gym flooring and gym equipment was in a large conservatory at the back of a property. The client wanted to upgrade the space to make it into a fully operational home gym with a range of strength gym equipment and proper professionally fitted rubber gym flooring.
Brief
We were tasked with sourcing new gym equipment and planning the layout of the new gym equipment in our client’s conservatory. We were also asked to source two types of gym flooring for the gym space. We devised a layout that would accommodate all our client’s gym equipment and selected a 20mm thick rubber interlocking gym flooring for the larger area in the gym. Due to the amount of doorways in and out of the space careful planning was required to make sure all the equipment would fit and not cause an obstruction. Also, as the flooring was relatively thick at 20mm we needed to make sure doors could open over the flooring. Once we had surveyed the site we were able to confirm that we could fit the flooring despite the obstructions.
Once, the client had accepted our proposed plan for the fit out and where each piece of equipment would be positioned, we could begin planning and executing the fit-out.
Gym Flooring
The gym flooring for this project was one of, if not the key element to this home gym fit out. The space had a lot of obstructions and entrances to negotiate so it required skilled measuring and cutting to fit. Therefore, we selected a heavy interlocking tile as this helped the flooring lay flat on the subfloor and would ensure a more secure fit. We also laid a thinner tile at one end of the space which also required precise fitting due to its lighter weight. Transition strips were laid between the two types of floors.
Gym Equipment
The client already had some home gym equipment in the space so we had to choose pieces that would fit alongside the existing set up.
