We were contacted by a home owner in London’s Notting Hill to assist with their home gym installation. The client wanted to convert a basement room into a fully functioning home gym. This home gym installation project was in the process of commencing shortly before the government’s lockdown. We managed to install most of the gym equipment at the client’s request, but the building work was suspended. The building work resumed a few of weeks ago and the room has now been transformed by Chelsea Construction who have done a magnificent job in refurbishing the space.
GYM DESIGN AND FIT-OUT
Once we had measured the room and understood what the client required in terms of home gym equipment we were able to devise a layout for the client to consider. The location of the TV at one end of the room determined to a large extent the orientation of the larger equipment such as a treadmill. But the addition of a punchbag, ceiling mounted TRX suspension trainer and free weights meant that a workable, free flowing space was of key importance.
The existing carpet floor needed to be replaced with a suitable gym flooring. We therefore recommended a 22mm rubberised flooring. This would not only protect the wooden floor but also help absorb noise, and reduce the impact of dropped dumbbells. As a result, the client chose a stone grey colour from Pavigym’s Endurance S&S range.Pavigym’s Endurance S&S (22mm).
